Student Services FAQ

Dear Bulldog Families,

We are so excited to announce the return of ALL of our 6th-12th grade Bulldogs starting on October 6th 2020. While some families may still choose to learn remotely, the majority of our students will be back in buildings. We recognize that class and routines will be different and the restart will be unique, however, we continue to plan with our students with disabilities in mind.

Transition back to School

If your child was enrolled in the Bulldog Digital Academy and will be returning to in person learning, please expect a phone call from your child's Intervention Specialist and a new Prior Written Notice (PR-01) to be sent home. This document will summarize your conversation with the Intervention Specialist about the return to in-person learning.

IEP's (Individualized Education Programs) will not be amended to reflect the change back to in-person learning unless the team feels a change needs to be made. If you have specific questions regarding your child's IEP, please reach out to their Intervention Specialist.

Related Services (Speech, OT, PT,)

Students with related services on their IEP, that will continue to learn remotely, will receive the agreed upon services as described in section 7 of their IEP. The Related Service staff will work with IEP teams to create a schedule that meets the needs of the child. Your child’s service provider will communicate with you to determine when those services will be provided.

Special Education Meetings

At this time, in order to limit the number of visitors to our school buildings, special education meetings (ETRs, IEPs, etc.), will be conducted virtually with parents/guardians. As we progress to a full return, we will continue to schedule virtual meetings as we have found that they were very productive and provided a greater level of participation for traveling team members and parents.

Please know that we are committed to ensuring that your child's IEP services and supports are provided either in-person or remotely. If you have questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out to me, the building administrator or your child's Intervention Specialist. Take care of yourselves and each other, and thank you so much for your support!

Respectfully,

Joya Mitchell
