Purpose

Evaluation of each certificated/licensed staff member serves as a collaborative tool between the evaluator and the educator to advance professional development and to identify and develop best educational practices to provide the greatest opportunity for student learning and growth.

 

Open Appraisal

All monitoring or observation of the work performance of an educator shall be conducted openly and with full knowledge of the educator. Annually by September 30, District Administration shall provide each educator with the following information related to the educator evaluation:

  • A summary of the evaluative procedure and instruments to be used; and

  • Information about the educator’s eligibility for contract renewal at the end of the school year, if applicable.

 

Who Will Be Evaluated?

All licensed/certificated teachers, school counselors, and service providers shall be formally evaluated annually as outlined in Ohio Revised Code.

  • The following licensed/certificated staff members will be evaluated using mutually agreed upon evaluation rubrics:

  1. related services providers ;

  2. licensed/certificated staff members assigned to teach students less than fifty percent (50%) of the time, including but not limited to library media specialists and instructional coaches.

  • All other licensed/certificated staff members (teachers and school counselors) will be evaluated using the Performance Evaluation Rubric as prescribed in Ohio Revised Code.

 

Exemptions

The Board of Education may elect not to conduct an evaluation of a licensed/certificated staff member 1) who was on leave for 50 percent (50%) or more of the school year or (2) whose notice of retirement is approved by the Board of Education on or before December 1 of the school year.
