Mandatory Reporting

In Ohio, school officials are considered mandated reporters in several categories.

mandated reporter is a person who, because of his or her profession, is legally required to report any suspicion to relevant administrators or authorities. These laws are in place to prevent wrongdoing at the earliest possible stage.

school official is a person employed or contracted by the Board of Education as an administrator, supervisor, teacher/instructor (including substitutes), or support staff member (including health or medical staff and law enforcement personnel); and a person serving on the Board.
