Learning Standards

What are Standards?

Standards Light Bulb

Standards are the learning expectations for students in each subject area and at each grade level that will prepare students for college and career. In other words, what should a child know and be able to do as a result of participating in the program of instruction and assessment at Green Local Schools and in the State of Ohio?

Pursuant to regulations set forth by the Ohio Department of Education and Green Local Schools Board of Education Policy 2220, Adoption of Courses of Study, instruction in the district is conducted in accordance with Ohio's New Learning Standards.

Other Applicable Board of Education Policies include:
Curriculum Development (2210)
Adoption of Textbooks (2510)

The Ohio Department of Education has worked with teams of teachers across the state to develop a model curriculum of teaching strategies and resources aligned to Ohio's New Learning Standards. The State Board also has adopted model curricula for most subjects. Learn more about standards and the model curricula by clicking on the subject areas to the left.
