Beginning January 2019, every student at Green Middle School will be assigned a Chromebook for school and home use.
Chromebooks are laptop computers that are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet and utilize applications and documents in the cloud. These devices will provide all of our middle school students with the same powerful learning tool to complete both in-class and at-home academic projects and assignments.
GMS Chromebook Initiative
= Expands and enhances our students’ educational opportunities
= Encourages integration of 21st century technology skills throughout the learning process.
= Uses Google Classroom as the foundation for collaboration, thereby transforming instruction and learning.
= Provides students with access to anytime, anywhere learning by harnessing cloud-based applications to extend learning time beyond the school day.
As we approach the date for each student to be assigned their own Google Chromebook for use in their course work I wanted and need to share some information with all of you. I have attached documents that will need to be read and signed off on before we are able to distribute devices to your student. Our goal is to have a district owned device to you your student on January 3rd or 4th.
The first document is a handbook that contains the policies that you will need to be familiar with and sign off that you read the handbook. After reviewing the Chromebook polices, pages 8, 9, and 10 need to be acknowledged with the initials of both the student and the parent.
The second link is for the information pertaining to the insurance. We strongly suggest that you look into the insurance policy. Insurance is provided by an out of district provider and is reasonably priced.
All signed documents should be turned into your student’s HOMEROOM TEACHER.
GMS will be holding an optional parent meeting on Thursday, December 6th at 6:00 PM to go over the attached documents and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you and we all look forward to beginning this exciting opportunity with your student.
