WELCOME TO THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR!
A week in and students are adjusting well to their classes. It has been a great start to our school year, and hopefully for you as well!
Mrs. Mitchell and I held class meetings last week to emphasize several points of the handbook with your students. The majority of these points are found in the student handbook on pages 16-18 and include:
DRESS CODE: Please be sure that you know and understand what is and is not allowed at GHS for students to wear. Note that therer have been no changes to the dress code for the 17-18 school year.
PARKING PERMITS are to be purchased in the main office PRIOR to your student driving to school. Permits are $35 for the year or $17.50 if purchsed in January or after, or if your student is a PLCC student. Mrs. Hastings in the main office handles permits.
MAKEUP WORK: If you are going to be absent from school, know the deadlines for completing work. It is the student's responsibility to make arrangements with their teacher(s) to complete work. In addition, class-time is no longer allowed for making up tests, quizzes, or other major assignments. Students will be assigned to Academic Intervention after school or will use lunch/study hall time to complete work.
HALL PASSES are required by all students ANY time they are in the hallways (other than normal class change). This was discussed at length in the class meetings, and students are aware of how to obtain a pass should they need one.
LOCKERS were discussed, and it was emphasized to students that they need to a) keep their lockers locked at all times (whether hallway or athletic locker), and b) not share lockers with anyone for any reason.
Again, please reference the GHS Student Handbook (below) for more clarification.
Have a question? Please shoot me an email anytime and I'll be happy to help you out.
Good luck to all of our Bulldog athletes this week!
