Department Goals:

The Family and Consumer Sciences Curriculum offers challenging course work which offers the balance needed to manage todays fast paced lifestyle.  The instruction that takes place in FCS classes empowers students to actively improve the well-being of themselves and others in the home and community.  Decision Making and skills in communication, managing relationships, parenting, career planning and nutrition offer that balance needed for daily life.

Faculty:

The Family and Consumer Sciences Department has two fulltime faculty.  Mrs. Shari Moseley and Miss Stacey Warren.  They have 27 years of combined teaching  experience.  Both staff members are involved in a number of committees and student extracurricular activities.  See the webpage for each teacher under  "GHS teachers".

Students:

Approximately 250 students take FCS classes each school year.  The classes operate at the maximum number of students permitted in each class based on the facilities size and fire code guidelines.

Facilities:

Class takes place in classrooms which have new Promethean Boards, projectors and computers for using the most recent technology in the classroom.  The foods lab has new (2009) gas and electric stoves and ovens with convection and conventional ovens in them.
